Our definition of family business estate planning is different from yours. Different because you, if you are like most people, see estate planning as an event. I see it as an attitude.
It is as true in the family business as it is in nature that nothing exists in a vacuum. Anything left unattended will disintegrate and the only direction you can cost is down.
When the business is founded estate planning should be considered. As the business grows estate planning should be a constant part of the equation. And in the case of a family business, where there are heirs and successors in the wings and spouses and others standing by for their share, estate planning must be a living organism that is considered every step of the way from start up to exit.
